Events at GISAD
Annual events
Throughout the year we plan various events during which the help and support of parents is greatly appreciated. GISAD hosts numerous internal events as well as others which are open to the public.
October:
Career Night
The school hosts a Career Night during which parents, alumni, private institutions and different universities give our students of grades 10 & 11 professional career advice, study insight and further insights of life outside of GISAD.
November:
Lantern Festival
Our Lantern Festival is a celebration of the primary school and kindergarten. With the help of parents, teachers and the Event Team, we enjoy an evening of food and cakes, a lantern walk, songs and a play.
UAE National Day
A beautiful event marking the National Day of the UAE and allowing us as an expat community to join in with patriotic flair and transform the school to a cultural epi-center. Traditional dances and songs are performed, students create compelling stands and parents join in to dine at the buffet of local foods.
December:
Winter Market
Our main event is the Winter Market, a family event which is a parent initiative and the school’s biggest annual fundraiser. It is open to the public and visitors enjoy a wide variety of stalls, catering provided by a local 5 star hotel and music performances. The highlight for every child is the visit of St. Nicolaus and his big bag of goodies.
January:
Winter Disco
An event organized by the Student Council to invite students for a lively evening of fun and dance. All proceeds benefit the student body.
Flea Market
Our Flea Market is organized by the Event Team and allows parents, students, colleagues and friends to set up a table for an afternoon of selling pre-owned belongings. A fun afternoon for everyone including baked goods and a coffee sale.
February:
International Day
Our International Day greatly relies on the help of parents to come out and support the country they identify with most. Parents set up stalls in patriotic styles, bring traditional foods and enjoy the sight of curious students going from stall to stall playing quizzes to stamp their passports.
Spring:
Iftar
In honor of the Holy Month of Ramadan we partner with the Beach Rotana to invite family and friends to a catered iftar here at our school. Upon a small charge, enjoy local foods and a gathering in an enjoyable ambience.
June:
School Ball
Thanks to our Event Team we are able to coordinate an end of the year graduation ball for anyone who wishes to come. The venue is the idyllic Park Hyatt on Saadiyat Island and guests enjoy an evening of food, drinks, a dj and lots of laughter.
