Approach and Actions
Respect, Appreciation & Trust
We treat each other in an appreciative and respectful manner and trust each other.
Transparent Communication
We communicate within the school community openly, clearly and in binding ways.
Commitment
We pursue jointly agreed goals, recognize rules and agreements and adhere to them.
Cooperation at various Levels
We work together to shape school life: pupils, parents and teachers. Through exchange, participation and assumption of responsibility, we work on common goals at an individual, class and school level.
Cultural Awareness
Program for Emirati Students
We have made the cultural exchange with our host country our mission: on the one hand, we introduce our students to the Emirati culture and Arabic language, and on the other hand, we teach the German language and culture to the Emirati children integrated at our school. The German language is introduced to the Emirati children in a playful way as early as kindergarten. The acquired language skills are supported and encouraged through German language support (DaF), and Arabic is taught as the mother tongue and as the 2nd or 3rd foreign language in school lessons.
Cultural Diversity – Cultural Heritage
As a German school abroad, we build bridges between different cultures and languages. The active exchange through the unique German and Emirati cultures and other international influences are a great enrichment of our school life and offers our students a special opportunity to acquire intercultural skills. The cultivation of the cultural heritage of the Emirates in the curricula of the relevant subjects and in school life is of particular importance.
Open-Mindedness
We see GISAD as a place of encounter and intercultural dialogue. We cultivate a culture of cooperation based on mutual appreciation, openness and open-mindedness. We place great importance on a cooperation based on trust.
Learning and Teaching
Preparing for Advanced Education and a Career Path
We provide a strong fundamental education concluded with a degree of the German International Abitur. Several subjects are instructed in English and thus the Abitur is recognized worldwide as an entrance qualification to university.
We promote independent learning and scientific work and as a result prepare our students for active participation in social life and their future individual educational careers. Through the career information day and internship opportunities, the students gain an insight of a future professional career.
Innovation & Competitions
We promote innovative ideas and individual commitment in all areas and participate in regional and national competitions.
Effective Teaching & Learning
We use a variety of social forms and methods in teaching. Cooperative forms of learning and the promotion of independent and problem-oriented learning characterize our teaching.
Personality Development
We promote the development of our students into mature, self-confident and self-reliant personalities. We associate great importance to teaching social skills and promoting individual talents and skills.
Individualization
We at GISAD have madeit our goal to optimally promote and challenge our students according to their skill levels, abilities and interests through differentiated and individualized learning. For example, we implement the DaF-/DFU concept to improve language skills.
School Development
Easing Transitions
We all learn and work under one roof: kindergarten, primary school and secondary school. This has made it easier for us to manage the transitions between the educational levels. We ensure that pupils can continue their schooling after their return to Germany without any difficulties.
Workshops
We make use of internal and regional workshop offers as profitable impulses for our daily educational work and school development.
Inclusion
We create conditions to learn together and have the courage to find creative and individual solutions.
Co-Determination
We support co-determination at all levels. Pupils, parents and teachers, through their elected representatives in the pupil administration, the parents’ council and the teachers’ council, are responsible for the development of the school and are in regular contact with the school management.
Collegial Cooperation
We value trusting and productive cooperation at subject and class level as well as in collegial working groups and projects.
Feedback Culture
We promote reflection on teaching, on our own learning process and on the teaching process through the development of a feedback culture.
Pedagogical Quality Management
We ensure systematic school development with the help of Pedagogical Quality Management. On the basis of IST – Analyses (BLI, SEIS+, inspection by ADEC), the steering group draws up a prioritized catalogue of strengths and weaknesses.
Working groups will develop concepts and translate them into concrete measures, the effectiveness of which will be checked by interim evaluations (balance sheet visit, peer review). All in all, PQM is a cycle that is constantly being revisited.
