AG’s and ECA’s

AG’s and ECA’s

Please find a current overview of AG’s and ECA’s as download below. At the beginning of each term information of the respective provider will be distributed accordingly.

AG’s (School Internal Extracurricular Programs)

The German International School in Abu Dhabi would like to offer all students the opportunity to discover and develop their abilities and talents. At the beginning of each school semester, students can choose from a range of different extracurricular groups (AG’s) depending on their interest. These AG’s are offered by members of the teaching staff or parents in the afternoon. There are various sports and workshops in the field of music and creativity, but also workshops on e.g. arts and technology and foreign languages which are offered. AG’s provided by teachers and parents cost 570 DHS per term.

ECA’S (Extracurricular programs external on premise providers)

GISAD Goes Green

GISAD Goes Green

In 2019 GISAD put a strong focus on Going Green, in an effort to expand our school’s carbon footprint and join the world in making our environment sustainable. Our mission is to assist and guide the GISAD community towards an eco-friendlier path.

We started our movement by raising awareness about the threats which pose harm to our environment and what we can do differently within the UAE to help reduce waste. A big success was the start of collaboration with “Simply Bottles” and acquiring two of their plastic bottle recycling bins. Through the collection of plastic bottles here at our school, Simply Bottles is able to produce eco-friendly clothing under the name of their brand “D-grade”. The bottles are reduced to polyester fiber through an eco-friendly process and are then marketed as clothes which are literally recycled plastic. We love it. .

We continued our efforts with the realization that our paper waste was too high. Together with the company “Infofort” and their initiative “GreenBoxes” we now recycle paper at our school. We received 5 GreenBoxes from Infofort. After they are all full, they are collected and our paper waste is analyzed. Our first report highlighted a reassuring positive impact that we have had on the environment and can be seen below

As we are driven to move forward to a greener and brighter future, we would like to ask any parent, business or environment enthusiast to come forward and gladly contribute any collaboration ideas you may have. Please feel free to reach out to our Head of Marketing: marketing@gisad.ae

After School Care

After School Care

Afternoon care is offered for grades 1 to 7, and is based on the respective timetable and, as required, takes place from Sunday to Thursday in the 5th to 8th lesson. Students who have to wait for the school bus after the end of lessons, for example, or have to bridge idle times between the end of lessons and the start of a working group, have the opportunity to do their homework or to keep themselves busy. During the supervision hours there are phases of free and guided play and creative activities (e.g. arts & crafts).

The supervision concept gives the students the opportunity of social learning in a group. Afternoon care is an important part of the integration work at the school. Our team makes sure that the students speak solely German in order to give the non-German native speaking children the opportunity to improve their language skills outside of the classroom.

Afternoon care is provided by experienced, committed parents under professional socio-pedagogical supervision.

Our team can be reached at: betreuung@gisad.ae

Vacation Camps

Vacation Camps

At GISAD we strive to make things as easiest as possible for children and their parents. We know that at times, school vacation doesn’t align with your work schedule, which is why we offer GISAD vacation camps. Our first successful camp was at the end of the summer break of 2019 and offered students a full week of fun and pedagogical games. Further our camps highlights nutrition as an important factor. Our children cook together under the supervision of our team and receive guest visits such as Chef de Cuisines of the Beach Rotana, Christian Rosse. Ahead of each upcoming school break we will issue information regarding the scheduled camp.
